Basic Shapes and Colors
Shapes and colors are the most noticeable attributes of the world around us. Kids use shapes and colors as powerful visual tools to perceive information from outside. Kids start to differentiate colors when they are around 18 months old; at around the same time they also begin to notice differences between shapes, size and texture. After age 2, kids start to match objects with the same shape, and begin to learn the names of shapes. By the age of 3, kids could fully understand the meanings of colors and name different colors. The ability to recognize shapes and colors is considered as a cognitive milestone for kids, which lays the foundation for later academic success and daliy practical use.
